Cape May Point State Park

Cape May Point with the Cape May Lighthouse is a major attraction for many visitors to the Cape May area. The parks landscape of marshes and tidal pools is the perfect area for major birrd migrations. Cape May Point State Park is a day-use park, open from dawn to dusk. Many trails lead visitors to various pond,  dunes, marsh and forest habitats of the park where wildlife can be viewed from observation platforms. The Cape May Point area is home to many beautiful Cape may cottages built in the early part of the last century. Many of the homes have spectacular views of the ocean and tidal marshes. One of the major attractions for this area are the amazing sunsets. Sunset Beach is located at the point and is a major tourist attraction. Each night visitors and locals gather for natures most beautiful spectacle. The sun slowly sets directly in front of its viewers. A true sight to behold.

The natural area is significant along the East Coast for its resident and migratory birds and includes habitat suitable for northern and southern species of fauna and flora. The 157-foot-high lighthouse is still an aid to navigation. Visitors who climb the 199 steps to the top of the lighthouse are rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view of the scenic Cape May peninsula. Also within the park is the World War II Fire Control Tower Fire Control Tower 23. It’s New Jersey’s last remaining World War II tower, which was part of the immense Delaware Bay harbor defense system known as Fort Miles. Admission fee.
